Remote Control Your Timer
What is Remote Control?
Remote control gives you the ability to manage your timer through a separate control interface. For Countdown timers, you can start, pause, and reset. For CountTo timers, you can update the target date/time. This is particularly useful during live streams when you need to manage your timer without interrupting your workflow or switching between applications.
| Free Timers | Premium Remote Control |
|---|---|
| Manual restart only | Start/pause/reset from anywhere |
| Must reopen editor to change settings | Adjust settings on the fly |
| No live control during streams | Full control while streaming |
| Requires page reload | Instant updates |
Accessing Remote Control
The remote control interface is available directly from the editor. When you open your timer in the editor, you'll find remote control options that allow you to manage the timer's state and settings.
How to Access:
- Log in to your Premium account
- Open any saved timer in the editor
- Use the control panel to manage your timer
- Changes apply instantly to all displays
Control Options
The remote control interface provides comprehensive timer management. Note: Control options differ between timer types!

Remote Control During Streaming
When using your timer in OBS Studio or other streaming software, the remote control becomes especially valuable. You can keep the editor open on a secondary monitor or device and control the timer without affecting what's displayed on stream.
Streaming Setup:
- Primary Monitor: Your streaming software (OBS, Streamlabs, XSplit)
- Secondary Monitor/Device: Editor with remote controls open
- Stream Display: Browser source showing your timer renderer
- Control Flow: Make changes in editor → Instantly visible on stream
| Without Remote Control | With Remote Control |
|---|---|
| Alt-tab to editor during stream | Keep streaming software visible |
| Risk of showing editor on stream | Controls stay off-camera |
| Manual refresh may be needed | Instant automatic updates |
| Interrupts workflow | Seamless timer management |
Common Use Cases
For Countdown Timers (Duration-based):
| Scenario | Remote Control Solution |
|---|---|
| Unexpected Stream Delay | Pause timer until you're ready to continue |
| Break Running Long | Add extra minutes to countdown without restarting |
| Technical Issues | Pause timer while resolving problems |
| Multiple Timers | Switch between saved timers during stream |
| Design Tweak | Adjust colors or fonts without leaving stream |
For CountTo Timers (Date-based):
| Scenario | Remote Control Solution |
|---|---|
| Event Time Change | Update target date/time on the fly |
| Timezone Adjustment | Correct target time for different timezone |
| Design Tweak | Adjust colors or fonts without leaving stream |

Best Practices
Keep Editor Connected:
For the smoothest experience, keep your editor tab open while streaming. This maintains the connection to your timer and ensures remote control commands are processed immediately.
Pre-Stream Testing:
Test your remote control setup before going live:
- Start your timer using remote controls (Countdown) or verify target date (CountTo)
- Verify the display updates in OBS preview
- For Countdown timers: Practice pause, resume, and reset operations
- For CountTo timers: Test updating the target date/time
- Test duration/target adjustments
- Confirm all changes appear correctly
Workflow Integration:
For Countdown Timers:
| Streaming Phase | Remote Control Usage |
|---|---|
| Pre-Stream Setup | Load timer, verify settings, set initial duration |
| Going Live | Start timer when stream begins |
| During Breaks | Pause/resume as needed, adjust time if running long |
| Between Segments | Reset timer for next use |
| Post-Stream | Save any setting changes for next time |
For CountTo Timers:
| Streaming Phase | Remote Control Usage |
|---|---|
| Pre-Stream Setup | Load timer, verify target date/time is correct |
| Going Live | Timer runs automatically, no start needed |
| During Stream | Update target if event time changes |
| Post-Stream | Save any design changes for next time |
Multiple Monitor Setup:
If you have multiple monitors, dedicate one to your timer controls:
- Main Monitor: Streaming software and gameplay
- Secondary Monitor: Chat, alerts, and timer editor
- Third Monitor (optional): Social media, stream dashboard
Mobile Remote Control:
You can control your timer from a phone or tablet:
- Open the timer editor on your mobile device
- Sign in to your Premium account
- Load your timer
- Use controls just like on desktop
